Seven Carbondale businesses were burglarized in the overnight hours between Sunday and Monday, and police say they're poring over evidence to find suspects in the cases.
The burglaries happened hours after  peaceful protest in Carbondale against racism and police brutality. Mayor Mike Henry says he doesn't believe the demostration and the break-ins are linked.

"Just an unfortunate thing. But again, it's my hope that we won't find out that we had any of our protesters involved in this."

Henry says Carbondale is an inclusive community, and he's proud of that.

"We're very proactive with this. The community's been good in participating and learning along with us. We always have an open dialogue."

Stores included JC Penney, Old Navy, Finish Line, and Game Stop in the University Mall; Sally Beauty Supply in University Place; and Main Street Liquors and Tobacco along with Blue Fish Liquors.

Anyone with information on the suspects or incidents is asked to call Carbondale Police.
