It's now official... traveling from southern Illinois to Cape Girardeau and vice versa is about to get much more convenient.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says it will re-open Route 3 near McClure and Route 146 to East Cape Girardeau Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.
That stretch of road closed June 21st after high water on the roadways became too deep for safe passage.
IDOT says Route 3 will remain closed south of the Intersection with Route 146 to Gale until the floodwaters recede from the area.
