Playing for Pets will raise donations for St. Francis CARE

SIU students, faculty and staff will have a chance to play video games and help out a local charity this week.

Playing for Pets is a two day 24 hour live stream event this Thursday and Friday that benefits St. Francis CARE in Murphysboro.

For 12 hours each day current SIU students, staff and faculty can stop by and play a large variety of videos games on multiple consoles.

Faculty sponsor Justin Young says event brings back the communal side of video games while helping a good cause.

“There's no charge, though. We are asking that people, you know, go online through our website playingforpets.com, you can donate and those funds will go directly to St. Francis care. And then we're also allowing people to bring bags of dry cat or dog food if they want to and donate that.”

The event takes place in room 2010 in the Communications building.
