Many business and organizations are hurting during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Giant City Stables.

The stable is home to the Specialized Equine Services and Therapeutic Riding program.

The not-for-profit helps children with special needs as well as Veterans. And with no money coming in SES Board President Kevin MacDonald says they are hurting.

"Right now it costs us about $10,000 a month to care for the herd. So we need any help we can get to cover everything from food and medical supplies to the care takers" MacDonald said.

MacDonald says they are fortunate the horses will be able to switch over to pasture grass for the summer months, but if the state's stay at home order continues or a second wave of the virus comes the stables will need more help.

If you are interested in helping out. MacDonald said there are many ways to donate, he recommends either donating on their Facebook page, or their website.

MacDonald also suggested people can buy gift certificates at McKinney's Western Store in Marion and the stables will be able to get their feed and other supplies from there.
