A former Saluki golfer will be playing in next week's U.S. Open.

Luke Gannon -- who played at SIU from 2015 to 2019 -- qualified for his first major championship in a 36 hole qualifier.

The Kansas native birdied 5 of his final 9 holes to earn one of the available spots.

Gannon helped lead the Salukis to two NCAA Regionals appearances in 2016 and 2019. He was a two-time all-conference selection.

The U.S. Open is June 16-19 in Brookline, Massachusetts.
