The person hit by a train Tuesday morning in Carbondale has been identified after passing away from injuries sustained in the incident.

Carbondale Police say 22-year-old Michael Sykes-Branch of Carbondale died Thursday in a St. Louis area hospital.

Just before noon Tuesday, Sykes-Branch was hit by a train on the tracks between the 400 block of North Washington Street and North Illinois Avenue.

At this point in the investigation, police say there is not any evidence to support any foul play is involved.

The death investigation is ongoing.
