A baby was killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Wayne County.

Illinois State Police say both vehicles were headed east on Route 15.

The driver of one vehicle, 24-year-old Porsha Schultz from Fairfield, pulled over on the west bound shoulder at a mail box. She then pulled back onto the roadway and was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Jordan Ambrous of Carmi.

A one-year-old boy in Schultz vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Schultz and another passenger, 24-year-old Alissa Crum of Altamont, were flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Ambrous was not hurt. He was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
