The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office arrested a southern Illinois man and woman last week during a prostitution investigation.
Last Thursday, detectives learned numerous women were apparently posting prostitution ads online in Paducah. A detective, acting in an undercover capacity, contacted one of the women, who agreed to have sex in exchange for money. The woman then met the detective at a hotel, where she was immediately arrested. She was identified as 21-year-old Harley Williams of Marion.
Detectives located Williams’ vehicle on the parking lot of the hotel. Inside the vehicle detectives found 34-year-old Jeremy Shered of Carbondale and a three year old child. Detectives saw Shered deleting evidence of prostitution on a cell phone. Shered was arrested.
The investigation revealed both Williams and Shered were involved with prostitution for about a year.
The child was released to a family member.
