Another southern Illinois school district is choosing to remain on the State's list of schools at risk of losing funding, because of non-compliance with the Governor's mask mandate.
Travis Wyatt is Superintendent of the North Clay School District in Louisville Illinois.
"We're going through the process that ISBE has set up and that's the direction that our board has chosen for our community and our school district at this time."
Wyatt says he is happy with how the school district handled the first round of COVID-19 and staff will continue the practices they did last year such as continuing to stress cleaning, hand-washing and social distancing.
Recently Edwards County School District Superintendent Dave Cowger said his district is choosing to remain mask optional. However, Cowger says dialogue with the Illinois State Board of Education and his board in ongoing.
After a 60 day probation period, if schools are still making mask-wearing optional, they could lose funding from the Illinois State Board of Education.
