The sponsor of a proposal to ban Illinois children younger than 12 from playing tackle football tells The Associated Press the measure lacks the votes to pass this session.

With high school sports starting soon, a group of coaches, athletics administrators, E-M-S officials and team trainers met at Carterville High School this past wednesday to share their knowledge on treating injured high school athletes.  The sports injury drill was organized by sports specialists with Sportsology, a collaboration between Southern Illinois Healthcare, Rehab Unlimited athletic trainers and SIU Healthcare sports medicine physicians and trainers.
