WSIU Almanac: October 14th, 2016.

The Jackson County League of Women Voters will host a debate tonight at 7:00PM between Terri Bryant and Marsha Griffin, who are running for the 115th Illinois House Seat.  Then, this Monday, October 17th, the League of Women Voters are sponsoring a meeting between the Candidates for the Jackson County Board  at 7:00PM at the Murphysboro Township Hall.

There will be a Solar Eclipse Community Informational Meeting this Tuesday October 18th at the Carbondale Civic Center from 6:00PM until  8:00PM.  The meeting will feature representitives from Carbondale Eclipse, Carbondale Tourism, the SIU Eclipse Planning Committee and the City of Carbondale.  For more information contact Amy Fox, Public Relations Officer for the City of Carbondale at 457-3262.

Learn about what it is like to travel the Mississippi River with just your dog, on Friday October 21st at 2PM at the Herrin City Library.  Illinois author, Blaine Greer, author of the book  "Willow Sieve Chronicles-Eavesdropping from the Wildnerness" will present the information at the Herrin City Library.  This free public event is sponsored by the Herrin Area Historical Society.
