A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 6 am Tuesday:
An area of snow will begin to move into much of southeast Missouri Monday afternoon. The snow may move east into southwest Illinois and far western Kentucky during the mid or late afternoon hours.
Total snowfall for this event will likely be in the 1 to 2 inch range. Locally, up 3 inches of snow may occur north of Route 13 in southern Illinois and along and north of the Ohio River. The snow will taper off and likely change over to freezing drizzle or plain drizzle around midnight south of the western Kentucky Parkway.
This change over may take a little longer farther north. Though icing amounts should be very light, this still could cause additional travel issues.
Travel conditions across the area will likely deteriorate from west to east this evening. Those planning to travel, especially this evening into the overnight hours, should be prepared for slippery conditions and reduced visibility on untreated and elvated roadways. Allow extra time to reach your destination.
