Utility Crews Working to Restore Power

As of Thursday morning more than 27,000 Ameren Illinois customers remained without power following a series of strong storms on Wednesday.

Ameren reports storm related outages in Perry, Randolph, St. Clair, Washington, Marion, Fayette and Richland counties.  Ameren says St. Clair County was the hardest hit with more than 23,000 customers without power.  Many of the outages are related to downed trees that knocked out power lines.

In Marion County, more than 1,100 customers were without power Thursday morning.  Salem Emergency Management officials say trees and downed power lines blocked several roads.  Crews began moving into the Salem area Thursday morning.
