Special education teachers work with students who have a wide range of learning disabilities.

Those interested in a career in education may want to check out an upcoming job fair in southern Illinois.
Tri-County Special Education is hosting the event on Monday.
Tri-County supervisor Dana Stewart says they're looking to hire full-time teacher's aides for special education classrooms.

"The job duties would be working under the direction of a special education teacher in a classroom with students who all have special needs. They would be helping with the day-to-day tasks, with some of the instruction, with supervision."

Stewart says they're also looking for people who don't want to work full-time, but might want to be substitute teachers.

She says those eligible for consideration must have completed 60 hours of college credit, they must also be able to pass the work-keys test and get a paraprofessional certificate through the Regional Office of Education.

The job fair will be Monday, July 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Tri-County Education Center on Shomaker Drive in Murphysboro.
