SIU Police say a student was sexually assaulted over the weekend in one of the school's residence halls.
In a safety alert to the campus community, Police say the assault happened in Schneider Hall early Sunday morning, but that the victim reported the assault on Tuesday.
Police say the victim is an SIU student, while the suspect is not. They say the two are acquaintances, and that alcohol may have been involved.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call SIU's Department of Public Safety.
