The latest candidate for Chancellor to visit the SIU Carbondale campus says he sees a lot of potential.
Dr. Sabah Randhawa is currently the Provost and Executive Vice President at Oregon State University.
During his visit to Carbondale, he told a public forum audience he is a great listener and a fast learner - and hopes to have a chance to build on SIU's strengths.
"When you get the right people in a room, that share a common cause and a common goal, great and wonderful things happen. And it doesn't make any difference what institution they are in, or what environment they are in."
Randhawa says he is the first in his family to go to college, and says while he doesn't have clear answers on how to overcome all of SIU's challenges, he has ideas on how to build on what he calls a good foundation there.
Rhandawa is the second of four candidates to interview for the Chancellor's position. Two more will visit SIU next week.
Ohio University executive vice president and provost Pam Benoit will be on campus May 3-5. A public forum will take place on May 4 at 8:45 am in the Student Center Auditorium.
Texas Tech University senior vice president and provost Lawrence Schovanec will wrap up the campus visits on May 6-8. A public forum will take place on May 7 at 8:45 am in the library's Guyon Auditorium.
