The National Weather Service has issues a Freezing Rain Advisory for southern Illinois and portions of southeastern Missouri, southwestern Indiana and western Kentucky.
The advisory is in effect from 8:00 am Sunday through 9:00 am Monday. Rain is expected to begin Sunday morning and will transition to freezing rain throughout the day and ending as light sleet or snow. Freezing rain is expected to begin over southeast Missouri and spread across southern Illinois by mid morning and in to Indiana by early afternoon.
Ice accumulations could reach as much as a tenth of an inch. Light icing on roadways is the primary hazard. A Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect for the northern portion of the listening area along and north of the I-64 corridor.
