A Murphysboro woman is the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs' Volunteer of the Year.
Ada Ruth Cripps spends much of her time volunteering at the General John A. Logan Museum in Murphysboro, as well as the Veterans Service Office there.
Cripps' late husband, Claud, died from exposure to Agent Orange just two years ago. Claud served as a U.S. Navy Seabee during the Vietnam War.
Veterans Affairs leaders say Cripps continually helps veterans and their families get the documentation they need to file claims, and also works to digitize much of the information that's available.
