Murphysboro Police Investigating Accidential Death

Murphysboro Police are investigating the electrocution death of a 26-year old man.Police say they received a report early Monday morning of someone having been electrocuted inside the former Curwood manufacturing facility on North 19th Street.  The building is abandoned.  An investigation found three men from the Murphysboro area had broken in to the building and attempted to remove copper wire.   The victim was electrocuted when he came in contact with a high voltage line that was still active.

Murphysboro Police says a second suspect, a 22-year old man, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The third suspect, a 20-year old man, was not injured.  The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family.  The other suspects names are also being withheld pending the filing of formal charges.

The incident occurred about 1:26 am Monday.
