WSIU Sesame Street Everyday Heroes Family Event Is This Saturday, April 9, 1-4pm
Location: Cedarhurst Center for the Arts, Mt. Vernon
Carbondale, Ill. – Reporters, camera crews, and photographers are invited to cover Sesame Street Everyday Heroes Club, a free family event presented by WSIU Public Broadcasting, the public media arm of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and Cedarhurst Center for the Arts, with support from regional sponsors Joseph Hudgins Orthodontics and the SIU Credit Union.
The event will be held, rain or shine, this Saturday, April 9 from 1-4pm at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts, 2600 Richview Road in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. For convenience, media may park at Times Square Mall in Mt. Vernon, behind Hobby Lobby, and ride one of two free shuttle buses to and from Cedarhurst.
Sesame Street’s Everyday Heroes Club promotes acts of kindness, such as helping a friend or family member, being kind to the environment or to animals, and volunteering to help others.
Among the educational activities planned: photo opportunities with Sesame Street walk around characters Elmo and Abby Cadabby, Everyday Heroes activities and opportunities to win badges, making magic wands, coloring a large mural, creating alphabet collages, hula hooping, enjoying a Rubber Ducky pond with prizes, and watching the feature length Cookie Monster special The Cookie Thief.
