The National Weather Service in Paducah says Southern Illinois will get a lot of rain this week.
Meteorologist Kevin Smith says the area can expect 3.5 to 4.5 inches through Saturday.
"It's going to be a little bit cumulative as each band of rain moves through. More and more of the rain is going to run off into low-lying areas. And you'll see a gradual rising of water ... some low lying areas and ditches and creeks and streams. And also, maybe some low-lying roads."
He says everything should dry out next week.
"We're going to be seeing at least at or above average for highs and the same for lows. We'll probably be looking for lows not changing much, as well. And they may be well above normal especially because of the strong flow of warm and moist air into the region."
Smith says over this week and next, the average high temperatures range from the 50s, to 60s, and maybe even the 70s.
