SIU Carbondale’s student newspaper marks a milestone today – as this issue is the last to be printed on campus.
Technical troubles and increasing costs forced the Daily Egyptian to look at other options for printing over the last few years, and a decision was made to outsource the printing after today’s issue.
The D-E was printed in SIU’s Communications Building for decades. Alumni and current students say having a press on campus makes for a great learning laboratory – and they’re marking today’s change both online and in the paper.
Printing is not ceasing – the Daily Egyptian will be printed by an outside company starting next week.
