After a relatively mild December, the quad-state region is getting its dose of bitterly cold weather this week.
The National Weather Service says the cold air mass began spreading over the region Sunday night and will bring temperatures into the single digits by mid-week.
A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for the region from Wednesday morning through Thursday, as temperatures are expected to remain below freezing with blustery northwest winds.
Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing on Thursday into Friday. The National Weather Service says to take precautions and limit outdoor activities on Wednesday and Thursday. They also say to make sure that outdoor pets have adequate shelter.
