Granite City, IL – Authorities say there was little doubt that a 28-year-old ex-con suspected in eight deaths in Illinois and Missouri would be captured.
Tim Lewis is the police chief in Festus, Missouri. He says authorities knew Nicholas Sheley was in the St. Louis area.
Lewis says authorities set up a perimeter last night and Sheley gave in to authorities without a fight.
Sheley was arrested outside a bar in Granite City.
Lewis says Sheley looked like he had a difficult two days.
Authorities are unsure who will prosecute
Sheley since the killings happened in two states.
Sheley has been officially charged in one of the eight deaths.
