Icy roads are possible with a winter storm system moving through the region Wednesday-Thursday

Slick conditions are expected starting Wednesday afternoon, and continuing into Thursday.

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Winter Storm Warning for much of southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, and western Kentucky - in effect through Thursday evening.

Road conditions could deteriorate through the evening and overnight hours, with ice and sleet expected to spread across the region.

All in-person classes at SIU Carbondale were canceled after 4:00pm Wednesday anticipated weather conditions. The university says it'll make a decision about Thursday by 7:00am.

Morris Library, the Student Center and the Student Recreation Center will remain open. Tonight’s men's basketball game will be held as scheduled at 7 p.m.
