Warming Shelters Try to Protect Residents from the Bitter Cold

Images

In addition to the heavy snow, temperatures are dangerously cold.

The West Frankfort Police Department Lobby is now open as a warming center.
The City of Marion opened a Warming Center at the Marion Training Center at 211 East Boulevard Street.

The Carbondale Warming Center is open 24 hours a day and recently opened an overflow area to accommodate more people at its facility at 608 East College Street.

In the event of any long term power outages, a warming shelter is on standby and will be opened at either the Vienna High School building and or Fellowship Baptist Church in Vienna if needed.
