The Murphysboro Public Works Department got some help clearing area roads of snow from an unlikely source.
Mayor Will Stephens posted on Facebook he helped snowplow driver John Spradling push snow for about 45 minutes on Monday afternoon.
Stephens says he did it to better understand how equipment works and what the challenges are to keeping streets clear first hand.
The mayor says the Murphysboro Public Works department is doing everything it can to keep the snow routes open, so the side streets remain in pretty bad shape. He says stay home unless you have to get out.
