Semi Overturned on I-57 South of Benton

UPDATE: 3:15 PM

One person was not hurt after a semi roll-over on Interstate 57 this morning. 

State Police say the crash happened around 10:15 near mile marker 70.5 in the Southbound lanes. 

46 year old Akeam Banch of Atlanta, Georgia was the driver in the crash. Police say the driver was trying to avoid getting hit by another semi. The driver lost control struck a guardrail and overturned in the ditch.

Police say the right lane of Interstate 57 South is still shut down for the removal of the commerical vehicle. 

UPDATE: 12:05 PM

State Police say one lane of I-57 South at Mile Marker 70.5 is closed as crews work to clear the crash. Police say the lane is expected to be closed for a period of time.

Franklin County EMA is reporting a crash on I-57 south of the Benton-West City Exit. 

EMA say a semi rolled over on I-57 southbound at mile marker 71. EMA is urging drivers traveling in the area to use caution and take alternate routes if possible.
