Illinois Governor J-B Pritzker is starting to act on the flurry of bills sent to his desk in the wake of this year’s spring legislative session. Among the first that he’s signed requires schools to provide a minimum of five hours of learning time.

A significant number of students have a lot more than academics on their mind during the school day.

Thursday, nearly 50 educators from southern Illinois attended Day 1 of a two-day training to learn more about Adverse Childhood Experiences - or ACEs.

Over 100 educators from more than 30 different school districts in southern Illinois attended a two-day professional development workshop this week in Williamson County.

Sixty percent of Illinois school districts outside the City of Chicago say they're having a tough time filling teaching positions.

A survey at the beginning of the academic year commissioned by the Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of School also found over 75-percent of districts are seeing fewer qualified candidates than in years past.
