Now that the State of Illinois has released guidelines to help school districts prepare for the return of students to the classroom this fall, the state's leading health official says it's time to get young people ready from a health standpoint.

Southern Illinois University Carbondale is slated to have it's first TEDx talk on January 25 in the Student Center.

The event's theme is the power of change.

Organizer Danny Vega says organizing the event has been a rollercoaster as he's the first to apply for an event license neccessary to organize the conference. But through the process, Vega says he's learned skills he would not have the opportunity to learn otherwise.

Vega organized the event with the help of the TEDx Committee, which is primarily made up of students and the Office of Student Engagement.

It's final exam week at SIU-Carbondale and soon high school students in the area will be taking their own finals.

For some students that means extra study time trying to catch up on classwork or cramming for a final. That might include pulling an all-nighter - but is that really a good idea when it comes to learning?
