Crime Survivors Push For More Trauma Centers

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul say they’ll use the power of their office to expand trauma services — but they’re asking for help from the General Assembly.

They made the announcement surrounded by survivors of crime at the Illinois Capitol Thursday.

The Illinois attorney general has joined 20 of his counterparts around the country in asking the U.S. Department of Education to reverse limitations on routine disclosures of student loan information to state law enforcement.

Pritzker’s inaugural address recounted several of his campaign pledges: legalizing recreational cannabis, rebuilding roads and bridges, and changing the state’s tax system so higher income levels are taxed at higher rates.

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says Illinois six Roman Catholic dioceses failed to disclose at least 500 sexual abuse cases involving priests. That’s one of the first findings the office has released so far in its ongoing investigation of the dioceses.

Over a dozen Republican lawmakers rallied at Veterans Airport in Marion on Monday,  in support of  Erika Harold - who is running for Attorney General against Democrat Kwame Raoul. 

Erika Harold won the Republican nomination for Illinois attorney general, while state Sen. Kwame Raoul defeated a crowded race to win the Democratic nod. They'll face off in the general election in November.

Incumbent Attorney General Lisa Madigan set off a scramble last year when she made a surprise announcement she would not seek a fifth term. The race drew ten candidates in all.

With funding from the Republican Party and Governor Bruce Rauner, Harold beat former Burr Ridge mayor Gary Grasso, winning 60 percent of the vote.

Republican Governor Bruce Rauner has already said he plans to run for re-election in two years.

Democrats don't have a single obvious candidate for governor.
