Marion High School will have a traditional commencement ceremony August 7 at the football stadium.

Anna-Jonesboro High School is hanging onto the possibility of holding graduation for the Class of 2020 on its original date.

With the COVID-19 pandemic canceling in-class learning for the remainder of the academic year in Illinois, schools are thinking of ways to celebrate their students who missed proms and graduations.

Southern Illinois University

Award-winning actress Melissa McCarthy will accept an honorary doctorate of performing arts at Southern Illinois University Carbondale's May 2019 graduation.

McCarthy is best known for her comedic work in movies such as "Bridesmaids," "Tammy," and "Gilmore Girls." She began her journey in 1988 as a fashion design major at SIUC, according to the university press release.

After living two years in Carbondale, she moved on to New York where she continued her fashion studies and began performing stand-up.

This is high school graduation season across southern Illinois.

It's likely no class was prouder than the one in Cairo, where HUD's closure of two public housing complexes further damaged the already struggling community.

A longtime film and television star is back at SIU-Carbondale this weekend to receive an honorary degree.

Richard Roundtree - who came to fame as the first black action hero in his portrayal of private detective John Shaft in the 1971 film  Shaft - will receive a Doctorate of Performing Arts during commencement exercises Saturday, May 12.
