The University of Illinois has become the target of lawsuit claiming the school has violated its students' free-speech rights.


Critics say a Missouri bill aimed at protecting student free speech on college campuses would also limit professors' speech.                

At issue is a bill by Republican Rep. Dean Dohrman to ban what are known as ``free speech zones'' for student expression. It calls for colleges and universities to adopt free speech policies.                 

Next Wednesday (March 14) is one month since the mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida … and students across the country are planning another walkout.

Monday, the ACLU of Illinois is encouraging schools to take the opportunity for a "lesson in civics."


An eastern Illinois teacher has been fired for stepping on a small U.S. flag during a lesson last month.

According to the Journal-Gazette in Mattoon, the Martinsville School District board voted 6-0 Thursday to fire English teacher Jordan Parmenter.
