Governor Pritzker Keeps Funding For Education Level With Last Year

Illinois Capitol

Governor JB Pritzker's proposed budget for next year is getting mixed reviews.

Governor JB Pritzker proposed a budget of more than 41 billion dollars on Wednesday.

A little more than 7 billion dollars of the budget will fund schools across the state.

During his speech the governor said all schools will receive the same amount of funding they received last year.

Fankfort Community School District Superintendent Matt Donkin says keeping the funding level helps them know what they are able to do in contrast to previous years.

“There are hires we can make and proposals we can do, but of coarse the concern is you make them for one year and the funding goes away the next year, that was a concern going into this, we aren’t to the point we were a few years ago where we were being shorted, but again it’s a challenging time for everybody.”
