2021 Margie Parker Teach-In Will Feature Nuclear Expert

The Carbondale Public Library and the Southern Illinois Peace Coalition are sponsoring the event.

A renowned historian and nuclear expert will be the featured speaker at 2021's Margie Parker Teach-In For Peace.

The Carbondale Public Library and the Peace Coalition of Southern Illinois are sponsoring the teach in, which honors the memory of activist and community organizer Margie Parker.

Library Director Diana Brawley-Sussman said Peter Kuznick's talk is titled "The Nuclear Insanity is Worse Than You Thought—and Always Has Been."

"So he will be talking about nuclear proliferation in the world and it's consequences, and how those consequences and awareness of them, or lack thereof, shape the actions of military strategists, policy makers and the public," Brawley-Sussman said.

The teach in will be held on Tuesday, September 21st at 6:30 pm. This year's event will be held virtually, with an option to attend via Zoom or watch the livestream on the Carbondale Library's Facebook page. To register, go to the library's website.
