The Carbondale Warming Center celebrated serving fifty-thousand meals Tuesday by recognizing the devotion of staff and volunteers.

Executive Director Carmalita Cahill says it takes more than twenty thousand dollars a month to keep the center open and now theirwebsitehas the option to set up monthly donations.

“Without volunteers and donations, we wouldn't be here and then that question becomes not where would we be, but where would the people we serve be, you look at the shelter in place, you look at restaurants still just using drive throughs, when it rains later today, the people that we serve wouldn't have anywhere to be.”

The center has been consistently open since December of 2019 and has helped more than 300 people.
