100+ Women Who Care Raises Money for Local Nonprofits

Money
Each woman in the group pledges to donate $100 to the selected nonprofit.

100+ Women Who Care of Williamson County is holding their second meeting on Wednesday.

The organization is one of many giving circles around the country. Co-founder Allison Hasler says the goal is to get 100 or more women to commit to giving 100 dollars to a non-profit in the region. While her group is based in Williamson County, members don't have to be residents to join.

"I wanted to do something where I could get women involved in philanthropy in southern Illinois. So we wanted to concentrate around a small enough geographic location where everybody feels like they have some tie into the community and the community engagement," Hasler said.

The group meets three times per year. Each member can submit a nonprofit organization for consideration and the group votes on which will receive the donations from that meeting. The Wednesday meeting will be held at 6 pm on June 30th at Walker's Bluff. To join, visit their website.
