The Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund has distributed its fourth round of grants across the state.
The Poshard Foundation for Abused Children is spreading $100,000 between 18 agencies in Southern Illinois in August.
In April the foundation received $300,000 from the response fund and added $150,000 from their funds.
Co-founder Jo Poshard says these grants are helping a lot of people.
“We’re still working on it, but we can conservatively say that between those two rounds there will be over 12,000 children and family’s members in Southern Illinois who will be helped by this.”
With this grant the foundation has handed out $550,000 to families to help with food, healthcare, education utilities and basic supplies to those affected by COVID-19.
The Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund is comprised of private donations without the use of state funds.
