The Poshard Foundation Celebrates Their 20th Anniversary Fundraiser

The Poshard Foundation for Abused Children is celebrating its 20th anniversary fundraiser and auction on Saturday.

This Saturday morning the Poshard Foundation is holding its annual fundraiser.

The event kicks off at 8:30 with a silent auction, followed by a breakfast buffet, raffle, diamond drop and live auction.

Over 200 items be up for grabs ranging from gift certificates, sporting event tickets, tools, clothes, and many Southern Illinois made products.

Co-founder Jo Poshard says they expect to raise over $100,000 during the event.

“We do not take state or federal grants and so this is our single event in terms of fundraising that we do.”

The foundation is all volunteer with little overhead which allows them to use all the funds to help children in crisis through the dozens of agencies they work with.

“This money goes strictly toward our April grants to help the agencies with projects that they cannot get funded in other ways.

The foundation helps around 1500 kids a year and after 20 years that adds up to a lot of help.

“Millions and millions and millions of dollars have gone out of our little office here at John A Logan College.”

Poshard says they feel like they are making a difference, but there’s always that next phone call.

“In 20 years, the need has not diminished, I wish I could say it had, but it has not.”
