For the first time in several years, Illinois has a budget. While this is good news for many, one non–profit that receives state funds is holding a community benefit this Friday. Spero Family Services is hosting their 23rd annual charity golf classic at Mt. Vernon's Green Hills Golf Club. Sandy Sinnett, Development Director at Spero says that roughly 80 percent of their funding comes from the state. However, many of those dollars have to spent for single–use purposes, and to fill in the gap, Sinnett says, her group relies on community fundraisers to round out their budget.
