Carbondale Plans a Halloween Festival

After Shadowfest for the 2017 Total Solar Eclipse, Carbondale officials are planning another large scale event - a Halloween festival.

Amy Fox, the City of Carbondale's Public Relations Officer, says though Halloween parties got out of hand years ago, the city is under new management and they're moving forward with the festival.
"We felt that enough things had passed and we're just hoping to make this a positive event not only for Carbondale but the surrounding communities, Southern Illinois. And, we feel that the eclipse was kind of a good trial. And we learned from that event and hopefully we'll continue to put on big events."

Fox says the goal is to add to those events with a 5k, trick or treating and more.

"Possible hay rides, pumpkin carving, those types of things throughout the downtown. Different types of food and drink specials at the local businesses. And then wrapping up the day with some music. So we're looking to make it a whole daylong event."

The festival will take place on Saturday, October 27th.

If you have questions, suggestions, or would like to get involved, contact Carbondale City Hall.
