Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Illinois celebrates turning 18

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Illinois are celebrating 18 years of serving youth in Southern Illinois.

On September 13th, 2004, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Illinois opened their doors to local youth.

They have a few activities planned for the week, a 13 team golf scramble took place Monday afternoon.

Tuesday the club will be doing a Facebook fundraiser asking 100 people to donate $18

On the 23rd they’re having their blue jeans for blue doors barbecue at Touch of Nature.

CEO Tina Carpenter says she’s honored to be able to help area youth for almost two decades.

“It's a busy couple of weeks. But, you know, we're definitely excited to be serving the kids, especially in two counties and just really increasing our impact with the kids in the community.”

To date the clubs have served 37,000 kids in Southern Illinois.
