The termination notice from SIU's administration to former Athletic Director Liz Jarnigan indicates she was let go without cause - and that she'd be paid for the remainder of her contract.
In documents obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, Jarnigan's termination came September ninth in a letter from Chancellor Austin Lane.
In that letter, Lane places Jarnigan on administrative leave until October 15th, and then points to a clause in her contract to say she'll be paid for the next two years.
Jarnigan's contract - signed in December of 2019 - stipulates an annual salary of $221,000. The contract runs through September 15 of 2023, meaning she'll be paid more than $440,000 plus health benefits.
