SIU Carbondale has named its new Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Paul Frazier's appointment will have to be approved by SIU Trustees. He comes to the position from the University of Alabama, where he's held a similar position since 2018.

Chancellor Austin Lane says the university's search committee had high praise for Frazier, who also has led diversity initiatives at Texas Tech University and in K-12 education in Lubbock, Texas.

Frazier says he was attracted to SIUC's diverse student body along with the commitment from administrators for DEI priorities. He says his first plans when he arrives in Carbondale include listening tours so that he can help move diversity, equity, and inclusion to the next level.

SIU's trustees meet next month in Carbondale.
