One of the people named in a published report about improper hiring by former SIU President Randy Dunn is leaving the university's system office.
The Southern Illinoisan reports Brad Colwell is leaving as Vice President for Academic Affairs and is being assigned to a teaching position at SIU Carbondale, where he has tenure. He was interim SIUC chancellor from 2015 to 2017.
"Through a mutual decision made with President Dorsey, Dr. Brad Colwell has returned to a teaching position on the SIU Carbondale campus. There will be a search for a new Vice President of Academic Affairs. In the meantime, Dr. Jim Allen will serve as acting Vice President until a new one is chosen, pending Board ratification at its next meeting," SIU President Kevin Dorsey said in a statement.
The Illinois Office of the Executive Inspector General found Dunn violated hiring rules when he signed off on the hiring of Colwell and the late Chancellor Carlo Montemagno's daughter and son-in-law.
