The River-to-River Trail Society announces its first public guided hike of the Fall 2022 hiking season, on Saturday Oct. 1st, in the Heron Pond Nature Preserve. This will be a wildlife hike and is free and open to the public. It will be a loop hike of moderate difficulty, approximately 7 miles in length, and 5 hours of hiking time.  Hikers should meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Todd Fink Heron Pond Trailhead parking area. The hike leader will be Shawn Gossman who can be reached at (618) 694-7034 for more information. 

In Olney, The Olney Arts Council Fall Festival offers Food and Entertainment, Vendors and Art Activities. You’ll find something for everyone, so make plans to attend Saturday, September 24th at the Olney City Park. (rhodaslichenmyer@yahoo.com 618-843-6071)

The City of Carbondale Police Department would like to invite citizens and visitors of Carbondale to come to the Carbondale Police Department for an Open House from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tour of the facility and speak with members of various departments to include Investigations, Crime Scene, Patrol, Telecommunications and Support Services. There will also be police vehicles on display and K-9 demonstrations. Light refreshments will be served. Anyone is welcome to attend and it will not be necessary to sign up for the event.
