The work of former SIU Professor R Buckminster Fuller still resonates today as a part of a special honors class. Speaking at an outdoor media installation on the SIU Campus, featuring archived audio of Fuller, Professor Jay Needham says in the 1960s Fuller pushed the concept getting the most out of finite resources.
"The use of energy and architecture and resources for sustainability. His theory of basically doing more with less."
Freshman Amber Sanchez enjoys the sounds inside the dome.
"Some people, when they hear the sound through a geodesic dome they get scared or worried because it's coming from all different directions. But, I, personally, feel very soothed."
Needham hopes to establish a permanent sound installation at the dome, near Thompson point.
