Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon

Continental Tire Company in Mt. Vernon says there have been two bomb threats made towards the mixing department in the last five days.
Company officials say they evacuated that area of the plant in both instances and contacted the Jefferson County Sheriff's office and the Secretary of State Bomb Squad. Authorities found both threats to be hoaxes and employees returned to work.

Continental Tire says to ensure the safety of its employees, it will implement stronger safety measures, which will mean workers will need to be prepared for delays entering the facility.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those making the bomb threats.

Anyone with information about the threats should contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's office or Crime Stoppers at 618-242-8477.
