Carbondale, Ill. – No one can tell a story quite like PBS… and no one can tell your story better than you!

WSIU Public Broadcasting, the public media arm of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, is inviting the general public to share their stories, family histories, and funny tales at the WSIU “Share A Story” audio recording booth, at the 5th Annual Cape Girardeau Storytelling Festival in the city's historic riverfront district.

WSIU's “Share A Story” booth will be located near Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus and will open to the public Saturday, April 14 from 1-7pm. Visitors should look for WSIU's branded canopy and colorful PBS KIDS Literacy Van.

Storytellers who spin their tales will receive a CD copy of their recording as a keepsake, along with educational materials and other giveaway items. WSIU Public Radio will feature the recorded stories and a photo of each storyteller online at wsiu.org at a later date.

See photos and listen to stories recorded at the festival in previous years, click Radio Voices: The Storytellers.

The Storytelling Festival will be held Friday, April 13 through Sunday, April 15. Festivities begin at 9am on April 13 and end in the afternoon on April 15. This year's master storytellers are Sheila Kay Adams, Dan Keding, Jennifer Munro, Kim Weitkamp, Larry Brown, and Jessica Carleton. For a complete event schedule, visitcapestorytelling.com.
