WSIU, Southern Illinois Immigrant Rights Project to Host Screening of Film on Immigration

Event is Friday, October 13 at 7pm at Liberty Theater, Murphysboro

Carbondale, Ill. – Reporters, photographers, and camera crews are invited to cover a free screening and discussion of the film, Homeland: Immigration in America, on Friday, October 13 at 7pm at the Liberty Theater, 1333 Walnut in Murphysboro, Ill.

The film is being presented by WSIU Public Broadcasting, a service of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and the Southern Illinois Immigrant Rights Project as part of WSIU’s Community Cinema film series.

Produced by Nine Network in St. Louis and narrated by Ray Suarez, senior correspondent for PBS NewsHour, the film explores the politics and people on all sides of immigration. The episode to be screened, “Enforcement,” explores how communities and our nation struggle to enforce inconsistent immigration policies.

Cindy Buys, Professor of Law and Director of International Law Programs at the SIU School of Law, will moderate a discussion after the film.
